Here's how it all began...
I started my journey with Quest College Ministry at Christ Church during my junior year of college. I learned about Christ Church at an internship fair at Fairleigh Dickinson University. After the internship fair, I became involved with the Quest College shuttle bus to Sunday services at Rockaway. I always looked forward to going to service to chat with new friends on the shuttle and share what our thoughts were about service on the way back. The experience helped me meet new people who were also interested in starting or growing their relationship with God. Sometimes we would even grab food together afterwards, which is how I learned more about what fellowship can look like. Upon graduation, in 2018, I became more involved with Christ Church and interned with Quest College Ministry as a HR Assistant. In this role, I had the opportunity to travel to various colleges and universities to advertise intern positions and connect with students and share other resources. This helped me gain professional experience, communication skills and leadership skills. As an intern, I also had space to grow spiritually. I became passionate about engaging other young adults and launched the ministry Instagram page with another intern. We shared Bible verses, created fun content and found creative ways to share the gospel. Through this I learned how much I enjoyed working to encourage young adults. This motivated me to brainstorm what it would look like to use my degree and interest in being a therapist to encourage young adults to learn about Jesus, while also discussing mental health. Towards the end of my time as an intern, I applied and was accepted to the Marriage and Family master’s program at Kean University. I began classes in Fall 2019 and embarked on an entire new journey where I worked towards being in God’s will more and understanding what obedience looks like. May 2022 I graduated with my Master of Arts and I am now continuing to be obedient to God by staying hopeful that I will be able to make an impact on the lives of young adults. I currently serve at Christ Church with Quest Teens in hopes to bridge the gap between high school students and college students. Mentorship is a great opportunity for people to learn and grow simultaneously. Additionally, I am continuing to plan and take action towards how I can share the gospel in the mental health field as a therapist. I went to Circuit Riders School in Texas to help gain knowledge in what ministry work would look like for me and to practice using my voice as a black, female therapist. I gained an amazing community during that experience and was able to continue building on the idea of what my ministry would look like. This is the beginning of that ministry. An idea that was birthed through an internship experience and now will be a space for young adults to join together, share testimonies and create new memories.
